Why we created MyThingE.com

It's a simple principle. If insurance companies want your business, they should have to work for it, rather than making you do the work to prove that you're worth their time.

Our founder - Hugh Jones - developed MyThingE.com out of frustration with the on-line insurance industry. Trying to arrange car insurance, he discovered, time after time, the price quoted mysteriously went up whenever he tried to continue. He found the customer was at the mercy of the insurers and their "user-hostile" systems.

MyThingE.com has a simple vision - the customer is at the centre of our business, not the insurance companies. With MyThingE.com the Internet is the ideal channel to put customers back in charge.

MyThingE.com is independent, and intends to stay independent. Some search-sites appear neutral, but when you explore further, you discover an insurance company owns the site. We do not believe it's possible to serve two masters, so the customer is our master - simple as that. We believe the best way to build a business is by delivering a service that makes life better for our customers.

How MyThingE.com works

MyThingE.com acts as an introducer. We are not a brokerage, nor are we an insurance company. We are an Internet company that provides a bidding site working for customers. Our aim is to find you the best insurance policy. We make different insurers bid for your business.

Fab Auctions Limited is the UK company that operates the MyThingE.com website, and our legal paperwork is in that name.

We collect the information you provide and make it available, securely, to Insurance providers registered with MyThingE.com. Your personal contact details (name, house number, phone numbers) remain confidential. Insurers need this information to make a bid. Once we receive a bid, the auction remains open for the number of days you specify. If you accept a bid, only then will your chosen provider receive your personal contact details. MyThingE.com will hold your information for any future auctions, to remind you of renewals and allow you to vote on our future services.

When you accept a bid from us, the successful insurer or broker pays us a commission for introducing the business. This does not affect the premium you pay.
